Case Study: From 30 to 2,150 Learners in 60 Days, and What Launch Taught Us

An honest look at our first 60 days: the launch spike, what people practised, who came back, and the changes we made because of the numbers.

In short

  • Members grew from 30 to 2,150 between 9 August and 7 October 2026 (as of 7 October 2026).
  • The peak day, 28 September, brought 816 sign-ups, 1,013 active learners and 3,401 practice trades.
  • 36% of new members came back the next day; 8% were back on day seven.
  • 79% of practice trades were on Nepal (NEPSE) stocks.

We publish our numbers because a learning app should be honest about whether people are learning. Everything below comes from StockYatra's live production data, the same figures shown on our data page and investor page. Nothing is rounded up, and the weak numbers are here too.

What happened

1. A launch spike, then a settle

Sign-ups jumped in the last week of September as the app spread. Daily active learners peaked at 1,013 on 28 September and settled to roughly 200 to 300 a day in early October. A spike always fades; the real question is the floor it leaves behind.

2. People came to practise Nepal first

Four out of five practice trades were on NEPSE names such as NABIL. US and Indian stocks were used, but Nepal is clearly why people arrive. That is why Nepal content, the IPO guide and NEPSE lessons come first in everything we build.

3. Day one is strong; day seven is the challenge

Over a third of new members returned the next day, which tells us the first session works. Only 8% were back a week later. For a learning habit, that is the number that matters most, and it is the one we are working on.

Key idea: A practice app wins when people come back on day seven, not when they sign up on day one.

What we changed because of it

  • Weekly leagues and the monthly Cup give a reason to return every week. In the week of 27 September, 1,744 members earned league points.
  • Daily streaks and the Bull-or-Bear call: 44 members held a streak of three days or more, and the best streak so far is 11 days.
  • Lumi AI answers the questions that make beginners give up, in their own language.
  • Fewer, better notifications: market-open reminders now follow NEPSE's real Monday to Friday week, with quiet hours at night.
  • Coins are earned, not sold, so progress comes from learning.

What we will measure next

Day-7 return is our headline metric for the next quarter. We will report it again here, good or bad.

Key takeaways

  • 2,150 members in 60 days.
  • NEPSE is the core: 79% of practice trades.
  • D1 36% is healthy; D7 8% is the job now.
  • Leagues, streaks and Lumi target the week-one habit.
