FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

No fine-print games. Here are the straight answers about how StockYatra works, what it costs (nothing), and what you can and can't lose (nothing real).

Getting started

Is it free to start? +

Free to start — you get 10,000 coins to paper-trade the moment you sign up, no card needed. Courses are unlocked with coins, and you can top up any time (₹100 = 1,000 coins). Trading itself never risks real money — it's all paper.

How do coins work? +

Coins are what you trade and learn with. Every account starts with 10,000 free coins. Use them to paper-trade and to unlock courses. Want more? Top up any time — ₹100 = 1,000 coins. Coins are for learning inside the app; they aren't real money and can't be cashed out.

Are the courses free? +

You get a real head start with your 10,000 starting coins, but full courses are unlocked with coins. Each course shows its coin price, and you can always top up (₹100 = 1,000 coins) if you want to go further.

Do I need a broker account or KYC? +

No. Because you're not trading real securities, there's no broker onboarding, no KYC and no account to open. You can place your first trade within a minute of signing up.

Who is StockYatra for? +

Anyone who wants to learn to trade without risking real money — complete beginners taking their first look at a chart, and experienced traders drilling a new strategy safely. It's built in Nepal and open to anyone in the world.

Money & safety

Can I lose real money trading? +

Not in the market — every trade is paper, settled in coins, so trading can never cost you real money. The only real spend is optional: buying coins to unlock a course or top up your practice balance. Coins have no cash value and can't be withdrawn.

Do I ever pay real money? +

Only if you choose to. Paper-trading with your 10,000 starting coins is free. If you want to unlock a course or top up your coins, you can buy coins (₹100 = 1,000 coins). There's no trading deposit, no withdrawal and no real securities transaction — and coins can't be converted back to cash.

Is StockYatra a broker or an adviser? +

No. It's an educational paper-trading simulator. It is not a broker, exchange or investment adviser, and nothing in it is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell.

The markets & data

Is the market data real? +

Yes. Prices stream live from real exchanges. The whole point is that you practise against what the market is genuinely doing, so the skills you build actually transfer.

Which markets can I trade? +

Live equities and indices from major exchanges — NSE & BSE with NIFTY and SENSEX today — and more markets are on the way. The instincts transfer to whatever you eventually trade.

Can I trade from outside Nepal or India? +

Yes. StockYatra is built in Nepal but open worldwide. Anyone, anywhere can create a paper account and learn on real prices.

Learning & features

How does the replay feature work? +

Every session is recorded. You can rewind and replay it tick for tick, as many times as you like, and trade the same moment again — better. That loop is how the reflex sticks.

Will I get lessons, or just a terminal? +

Both. Guided lessons and quizzes teach a concept, then you drill it live on the market. There's also a leaderboard and XP so progress is honest and visible.

Do exits really fire automatically? +

Yes. Your stop-loss and take-profit trigger the instant price touches them — even with the app closed — and a push notification tells you the moment it happens.

Access & the company

When can I get the app? +

We're rolling out access in stages. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the moment your spot is ready — no spam, just the launch.

Who makes StockYatra? +

It's built by Lacspace, a product studio based in Nepal. We're building StockYatra in the open and opening access gradually.
