StockYatra Community Update: Trade and Learn Together

Learning the stock market has always been a lonely thing. You read a guide, place a practice trade, watch it win or lose, and then you are left alone with your chart wondering what just happened. Today that changes. The StockYatra app now has a full community layer: a Global chat for every verified trader, friends, private direct messages, @mentions, swipe-to-reply, a directory of every trader called Yatra Users, a floating chat head and a notifications inbox that works like a modern social app.

Why a paper trading app needs a community

StockYatra was built so anyone in Nepal could practise trading with virtual coins before risking a single rupee. The simulator teaches you the mechanics: order tickets, stop-loss, take-profit, position sizing. But mechanics are only half of trading. The other half is judgement, and judgement grows fastest when you have to explain your thinking to another person and hear how they would have done it differently.

That is what the community update is for. It turns StockYatra from a solo practice tool into a place where learners trade, compare notes and hold each other to good habits. If you are new to the idea of practising first, start with our guide to what paper trading is, then come back here.

Global chat: one room for every verified trader

Global is a single, shared room for the whole StockYatra community. Ask what a circuit breaker is, share what your trading journal taught you this week, or explain why you think a support level held. It is the fastest way to get an answer from someone who was confused by the same thing a month ago.

Open to read, verified to post

Anyone using the app can read Global chat. To post, add friends or send messages, you verify your account once with your email or phone. Guests see a friendly one-tap prompt instead of a composer. Verification is free and quick, and it keeps the room made of real people rather than throwaway accounts.

Rules that keep it useful

The Global chat guidelines are short and firm: be respectful, no buy/sell tips or "sure-shot" calls, no spam, keep personal details private, and report anything that breaks the rules. Abusive words are masked automatically, and only links to StockYatra's own sites become tappable. Everything else stays plain text, so nobody can drop a link to a shady tip group. Friends and direct messages

Global is great for quick questions; real learning often happens one to one. You can now send a friend request to any trader. They can accept or decline, and you can cancel a request you sent. Your friends list shows each friend's leaderboard rank (the #1 trader gets a lion), their level, whether they are online and the last message between you.

Friends can message each other privately. Direct messages only work between current friends: if either of you removes the other, the conversation closes. Swipe right to reply

Long conversations get confusing fast, so every chat supports swipe-to-reply. Swipe a message to the right and your reply quotes it. Tap the quote later to jump straight back to the original message. It works in both Global and your DMs.

Typing indicators and sounds

You can see when someone is typing a reply, and subtle sounds confirm when messages arrive and send. Small details, but they make a practice app feel alive, like studying next to someone rather than posting into the void.

@mentions that actually reach you

Type @ in Global to mention another trader by name. They get a notification that takes them straight to your message, so a question aimed at someone who knows the answer does not get buried under the rest of the conversation.

Yatra Users: find traders like you

Yatra Users is a directory of every trader on StockYatra. Each row shows a country flag, a verified tick, league and rank, level, trade count, achievements, learning streak and when they were last active. Search by name or trader ID, then filter by online now, verified, my friends, Session Toppers, country, minimum level or trading style, and sort by active, rank, level, name or newest. The floating chat head

On the Home and Leaderboard screens, a small floating chat bubble carries your unread count. Drag it to either side of the screen and it stays where you put it. One tap opens your chats, so you can glance at your portfolio, see a friend replied, and jump in without hunting through menus.

A notifications inbox that works like a social app

Mentions, friend requests, accepted requests and new direct messages now land in a proper notifications inbox, alongside your trade alerts. Each item can be read, left unread or dismissed, you can filter by type, and tapping an item takes you exactly where it points. Push notifications arrive with rich images, so a glance at your lock screen tells you what happened. The inbox builds on the price alerts introduced in StockYatra 1.1.0.

Premium-level community features, free for everyone

Most free practice apps give you a simulator and stop there. Community features like moderated chat, friends, private messaging and a searchable trader directory are usually saved for paid tiers, if they exist at all. StockYatra is one of the very few free practice apps that includes all of them, and they are free the same way trading is always free on StockYatra.

How to get started

1. Update or install the app from the StockYatra apps page (iPhone and Android).
2. Verify your email or phone when prompted. It takes a moment and unlocks posting, friends and DMs.
3. Read the guidelines at the top of Global, then introduce yourself or ask the question you have been sitting on.
4. Open Yatra Users and add two or three traders at a similar level. Agree to review one trade each per week.

What the community is not

It is not a tip room. StockYatra is an education and paper trading platform: every trade uses virtual coins, and neither the app nor this website gives buy or sell recommendations. The community exists to share reasoning, questions and lessons, never instructions to trade a particular share. If someone pushes a "guaranteed" call, report it.
