Right share price adjustment calculator

A right issue lets existing shareholders buy new shares, usually at Rs 100. After book closure NEPSE adjusts the price. Find the adjusted price, how many right shares you can apply for, and what it costs.

The formula

Adjusted price = (Market price + Right price × Right%) ÷ (1 + Right%)

Example: Rs 390, 25% right at Rs 100 → (390 + 25) ÷ 1.25 = Rs 332.00. Holding 100 shares, you can apply for 25 right shares costing Rs 2,500.

Good to know

  • You must hold shares by the book-closure date to be eligible — with T+2 settlement, buy early. See T+2 settlement.
  • Apply in Meroshare → My ASBA during the right-issue period. If you don't apply, your share of the company is diluted.
  • Unsubscribed right shares may be auctioned under the issue's terms.

Frequently asked questions

How is the price adjusted after a right share?

(Market price + right price × right%) ÷ (1 + right%). For Rs 500 with a 50% right at Rs 100: (500 + 50) ÷ 1.5 = Rs 366.67.

Do I have to apply for right shares?

No, it's optional — but if you don't, your ownership percentage falls and the price adjustment still applies to the shares you hold.

In Meroshare under My ASBA while the right issue is open, using your bank account with a CRN.
