How to get a Meroshare account
Meroshare comes from your DP — the bank, capital company or broker that opens your demat account. Do it in this order: demat → Meroshare → CRN from your bank. Then you're ready to apply for IPOs.
Step by step
- 1
Choose a DP
Pick a bank's capital company or a broker that offers demat services. Many now accept applications online through their website or app. See what a demat account is.
- 2
Open the demat account and request Meroshare
Fill in the demat form (KYC) and tick or ask for Meroshare at the same time. Give an email and mobile number you actually use — Meroshare password resets and notices go there.
- 3
Pay the fees
The DP charges its own opening fee. Meroshare is Rs 50/year and demat maintenance Rs 100/year.
- 4
Receive your BOID and Meroshare login
You get a 16-digit BOID (your demat number) and a Meroshare username and password. Your login also needs your DP selected from a list.
- 5
First login: change password and set your PIN
Log in at meroshare.cdsc.com.np, choose your DP, enter the username and password, and set a new password when asked. Set your transaction PIN — you'll need it to apply for IPOs and approve transfers.
- 6
Get a CRN from your bank
For IPOs you need a CRN (C-ASBA Registration Number) from the bank whose account you'll use. Ask your bank (many do it via branch or online form). The bank links that account to your BOID.
- 7
Check your bank shows in Meroshare
Open My Details → Bank (labels can vary slightly). If your bank account isn't listed, ask your DP/bank to link it — you can't apply for an IPO without it.
Minors, NRNs and joint holders
- Minors can have a demat account operated by a guardian; the guardian's documents and the child's birth certificate are needed.
- Nepalis working abroad can open a demat and Meroshare through DPs that accept remote KYC; IPOs often reserve a quota for Nepalis in foreign employment (check the prospectus).
- One person = one BOID per DP for applying. Applying for the same issue from two BOIDs is not allowed and gets rejected.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open Meroshare without a demat account?
No. Meroshare is access to your demat account, so the demat comes first. Many DPs open both together.
What is CRN in Meroshare?
CRN is the C-ASBA Registration Number your bank gives you after linking your bank account to your BOID. You type it when applying for an IPO.
Can I use a different bank from my DP?
Yes. The DP and the IPO bank can be different. You just need a CRN from the bank whose account you want to use, and that account linked in Meroshare.
How long does it take?
Usually a few working days after documents and fees are in; some DPs are faster for online applications.
